About the Girls on the Run 5k

The culmination of the Girls on the Run and Girls on Track programs each in fall and spring is a noncompetitive 5k run.

A community-wide 5k race hosted by Girls on the Run of Coastal Georgia is held concurrent with the GOTR program’s end-of-season girls run. It is open to men, women, children and jogging strollers. Walker or competitive runner, all are welcome! Fees are $25, or $35 on race day. Proceeds support the Girls on the Run after-school programs. These nationwide programs integrate running with a fun curriculum to help girls achieve a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. In 2011 over 80,000 girls participated in Girls on the Run in North America. The spring 2012 5k will be held on May 12 at 8:30 a.m. at Savannah State University Tiger Stadium. Girls on the Run of Coastal Georgia is an affiliate council of Girls on the Run International, which has a network of over 150 locations across the United States and Canada. Girls on the Run International has served over 250,000 girls since 1996.
